Powered by a unique blend of seven omega-rich oils, including sunflower oil harvested from Dyson's own farms in Lincolnshire, UK, the collection comprises of a hydrating hair oil which boosts and restores hair, and a leave-in conditioning spray which nourishes and detangles. These deliver instant and long-lasting nourishment for all hair types.
From Farm to Formulations
"We've brought together two completely different worlds – farming and beauty – to develop a product that unlocks healthy hair with natural ingredients.
12 years ago, Dyson invested in research and understanding the science of hair. We discovered ways in which our technology could radically improve hair health. Leaps in innovation – such as our motor, heater, and airflow technology – allowed us to revolutionize haircare and achieve step-changes in performance.
Meanwhile, in an entirely different field, we have spent over a decade experimenting and investing in precision farming. We have focused on growing the best, tastiest and most nutritious produce, farmed sustainably and efficiently, while protecting the environment and encouraging biodiversity. It's a passion and in the process I became very interested in how the farms could add to the development of ingredient-led beauty products which aid hair health.
Omega is the first Dyson product to feature an ingredient grown on Dyson Farms. Engineered for all hair types, it solves the problem of dry, tangled, frizzy hair using natural ingredients which we grow ourselves. Looking ahead, we continue to pioneer new ways to improve hair health through the application of innovation, technology and ingredient science." - Sir James Dyson, Founder of Dyson and Dyson Farming
Dyson Farming was established in 2012 and is Britain's largest farming business, with 36,000 acres of working land – that's about the size of 20,000 football fields. Dyson Farming is a top five producer1 of wheat grains, malting barley, oil seeds, and potatoes in the UK, as well as sunflowers for the Dyson Omega™ collection. The farm's nine-hectare sunflower field is home to over 800,000 sunflowers, some growing as tall as 6 feet.
Sunflowers weren't chosen for their looks, but for their unique chemistry: sunflower oil is rich in essential fatty acids, particularly omegas 6 and 9, which help to deeply moisturize the hair, smooth the cuticle, and reduce frizz. Thanks to its lightweight molecular structure, the oil absorbs quickly into the hair shaft without accumulating build-up.
The Dyson Farming team implemented a number of strategies to ensure the harvested seeds contain an optimal balance of beneficial compounds, from trialing over 60 varieties of sunflower to identify those richest in natural ceramides, to conducting regular soil testing, micronutrient balancing and crop walks once the seeds were planted.
Dyson Oli7™ Blend
In addition to Dyson Farming sunflower oil, the Dyson Oli7™ blend includes six other plant-based oils, each selected for its unique properties:
- Dyson Farming Sunflower seed oil
- Olive oil
- Abyssinian oil
- Corn oil
- Avocado oil
- Sesame oil
- Macadamia oil

A Sensory Experience: Scent and Form
Dyson is committed to designing products that not only deliver efficacious results but are also joyful to use. The Dyson Omega™ nourishing collection carries a carefully crafted fragrance composed of eight distinctive notes. Fruity top notes of sparkling citrus, green tea and bergamot create an instantly fresh, clean scent that reflects the formulation's lightweight finish. Floral mid notes of jasmine and rose offer a comforting, sophisticated aroma as the product settles in. Once dried down, deeper notes of musk, cedarwood and oak moss emerge, leaving a soft and versatile final scent that mirrors the scent of the Dyson Chitosan™ styling collection.
Distinct from conventional liquid sprays, the Dyson Omega™ leave-in conditioning spray starts as a thicker gel-like cream in the bottle, transforming into a lightweight mist when dispensed. To achieve this, Dyson engineers designed a bespoke bottle with a custom spray mechanism, ensuring the product distributes quickly and evenly, covering any length of hair in one easy step.
Meanwhile, the Dyson Omega™ hydrating hair oil packaging is sculpted from glass, showing the oil's rich natural color. After trialing 112 different glass bottles, Dyson engineers opted for a weighty, sturdy design that increases stability to prevent accidental spills. The custom cap further increases stability by offering a firm grip that won't slip out of your hands, even when slick with oil.

Understanding the importance of hair health and nourishment:
Dyson's hair science journey began long before the launch of their first hair care product in 2016. For over a decade, the company has been dedicated to understanding and improving hair health. Their team includes hair scientists and engineers who go the extra mile, even enrolling in hair styling courses to grasp the fundamentals of hair care.
Healthy hair is more than just aesthetics - it's about confidence and well-being. That's why Dyson engineers have worked hard to develop technologies like intelligent heat control in their devices which not only boosts hair health but also boosts users' confidence. Their recent Supersonic Nural™ hairdryer uses advanced scalp sensor technology to maintain consistent, safe temperatures during use and a healthy scalp.
Environmental factors such as changing seasons, urban pollution, and UV exposure can significantly impact hair health. Understanding these challenges has guided Dyson's approach to product development, especially in the case of the Dyson Omega™ collection. Dyson's formulations experts were determined to develop a solution to dry hair that not only conceals the problem, but addresses the root of it, and the biggest cause of dry hair is unhealthy cuticles. The result is a product that offers soft, smooth hair from the inside-out, recognizing that healthy hair is the key to lasting shine.
More on Farming:
Dyson Farming is a family-owned enterprise, focused on long-term investment in British farming, soil quality and the countryside. Sustainable food production, food security and the environment are vital to the UK's health and economy and James Dyson believes there is a real opportunity for technology to drive a revolution in agriculture. Dyson Farming is developing new approaches to efficient, high-technology agriculture and food production, in harmony with the natural environment, to create a positive farming model for the future.
Excluding land purchases, Dyson Farming has invested £140m in new technology, equipment and infrastructure, shaping the business into the farm of the future.
Dyson Farming is a top five producer of wheat grains, malting barley, oil seeds, peas and potatoes2 in the UK. It also rears sheep and cattle. The business grows British strawberries out of season in its state-of-the-art 26-acre glasshouse. The glasshouse is adjacent to one of Dyson Farming's anaerobic digesters which enables the year-round strawberry production. Crops from the surrounding fields are fed into the digester and broken down by micro-organisms creating gas which drives a generator providing two outputs:
- Green Electricity: which powers the equivalent of 10,000 homes
- Heat: which is piped into the glasshouse, along with CO2, to provide optimal growing conditions for strawberries all year round
The waste digestate goes back onto the land as organic fertilizer to increase crop yields.
Dyson Farming employs 241 people directly who have an average age of 40, versus the industry average of 59.
Dyson Farming in numbers*:
- 40,000 tonnes pa of wheat
- 9,000 tonnes pa of spring barley
- 12,000 tonnes pa of potatoes
- 29,000 tonnes pa of sugar beet
- 1,500 tonnes pa of vining peas
- 1,250 tonnes pa of strawberries
- 90,000 tonnes pa of energy crops
- 10,000m of drystone walls restored
- Manage nearly 400,000m of hedgerows
- Planted an additional 20,000m of hedges
- 111 barn owl boxes erected – chick numbers increasing each year,
- Built a 50-million-gallon wildlife-friendly reservoir.
- Produces sustainable energy to power the equivalent of 10,000 homes
