Grant funds will be used to establish and operate a mobile clinic to deliver patient care and education to address chronic musculoskeletal pain and reduce the use of opioids in Anoka, Hennepin, and Ramsey counties

PLYMOUTH, Minn., Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Fulcrum Health, Inc. announced today that it has received an opioid epidemic response services grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to deliver patient education and non-pharmacological treatment services via a mobile physical medicine clinic – whose services may include chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and physical therapy – to underserved communities in Anoka, Hennepin, and Ramsey Counties. Grant funds will be used to establish and operate a mobile clinic to promote treatment alternatives for chronic musculoskeletal pain that reduce the use of opioids.

Fulcrum was awarded the three-and-a-half-year grant based on its access to high-quality physical medicine professionals who quickly and effectively reduce spine and joint pain by delivering evidence-based care that addresses the underlying causes of chronic musculoskeletal pain and reduces the reliance on opioids. Fulcrum will use its broad network of high-quality physical medicine providers to operate the mobile clinic beginning in Fall 2025 in counties where unmet pain management needs are particularly high. The goals of this grant initiative are to increase pain management awareness and education, provide opportunities for individuals to receive effective, non-opioid treatment for pain management, establish a community-based referral system, reduce opioid use, and improve health outcomes.

Chronic pain is a common condition that leads to high healthcare utilization and, far too often, the use of opioids. Unfortunately, access to evidence-based, non-opioid treatment options remains insufficient in many communities. The Fulcrum Health mobile clinic aims to close this gap by offering access and raising awareness for these evidence-based alternatives to opioids.

"Fulcrum Health will use this grant to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals suffering from chronic pain by addressing healthcare inequities, while improving access to safe, effective treatment options," said Patricia Dennis, CHIE, CEO of Fulcrum Health. "A crucial step to reducing opioid dependence is educating the community and improving access to providers who can deliver alternative pain management options, while addressing common misconceptions about non-pharmacological treatments. Our mobile clinic will help create a seamless continuum of care that ensures patients receive the best possible treatments for their pain management needs."
