Depression is sometimes described as a dark cloud that shrouds a person's thoughts and emotions. It keeps them from feeling any joy that they ought to be experiencing from life's precious moments.
That was certainly the experience of Grace Tallman, a mother who endured post-partum depression after the birth of their daughter. To anyone else, the birth of a beautiful, healthy baby would have been something to celebrate. Yet for Tallman, it was only the beginning of a very difficult chapter in her life.
In the book, Tallman doesn't hide the pain and even distress of her depression experience. She describes a time that should have been marked by joy, but instead became the lowest point of her life. Hers is a story written that will resonate with many young mothers who also endured the same illness of postpartum depression.
Grace was able to transcend this dark experience with a renewed sense of purpose and drive. Over the years, she has learned not only to survive, but to thrive, which has inspired her to become an inspirational author, professional keynote speaker, and certified grief counselor. It is why her book The Birds Still Sing: My Journey of Resilience Through Postpartum Depression is now set to exhibit at two book events in Chicago, along with book signing sessions and speaking engagements.
Her ongoing promotional campaigns for the book are part of her larger mission to break the silence around this often, voiceless illness so that those in the medical profession are able to hear what the experience actually feels like. It will also be a support to the women who often suffer in silence, without support.
Those who would like to meet Grace Tallman should attend the Book Confab Chicago, organized by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet.
She will be attending the book festival at Printers Row to sign copies of “The Birds Still Sing” and interact with festivalgoers. See her at the Readers Magnet's booth.
