Kastle Unveils First Corporate Badge in Google Wallet That Will Support the Aliro Interoperability Standard

PR Newswire

Bringing secure, seamless mobile access at a fraction of the cost

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Kastle, the leading provider of managed security solutions and services, today announced the availability of the first corporate badge in Google Wallet that will support the upcoming Aliro standard. As part of its Kastle EverPresence™ access platform, this capability will enable Android users with secure mobile-first access and empower organizations with future interoperability. By issuing Kastle-managed credentials directly into Google Wallet, organizations can now offer users frictionless and protected entry through Google Wallet-enabled smartphones and wearables.

This new mobile credential offering underscores Kastle's commitment to open, interoperable standards that enable greater security and flexibility for both tenants and building operators. The Kastle credential is also the most affordable option in the industry, three times less expensive than most others—making it easier for broader adoption.

Aliro is a collaborative industry effort backed by leading smartphone and access control manufacturers to establish a unified standard for mobile access. This standard will make access control systems vendor-neutral, allowing different brands to work together—much like Bluetooth enables seamless connection between various electronic devices.

The Aliro Standard is designed with security and privacy at its core. It will employ asymmetric cryptography to ensure each credential is authentic and communicates securely with access control systems. Because the credential will live on a person's device, making it harder to share or misuse. By replacing fragmented, proprietary systems that rely on shared keys, the standard will also help reduce common security risks.

As adoption grows, Aliro will eliminate the long-standing frustration of proprietary access systems that have limited flexibility in commercial real estate. It will also accelerate the global adoption of mobile devices for physical access in offices, buildings, and homes—projected to become a $15 billion market within five years.

"Today's launch is a significant step in fulfilling our vision for convenient, secure, and universally accessible mobile credentials," said Haniel Lynn, CEO of Kastle. "By launching corporate badge in Google Wallet, we're enabling a modern, mobile-first experience our users expect, while strategically enabling technology that will support Aliro for future mobile credential interoperability."

Aliro represents a collaborative effort among industry leaders to standardize mobile access technologies, promising a future where credentials issued by Kastle, or others, will consistently function across certified devices and reader hardware from multiple manufacturers. Kastle is known for its role in driving industry standards like Physical Logical Access Interoperability (PLAI) and Public Key Open Credential (PKOC) and is actively contributing to shaping Aliro's specifications and early adoption.

"Kastle's launch of a corporate badge in Google Wallet sets a new benchmark, empowering organizations with secure, mobile-first access and laying the foundation for compatibility with the upcoming Aliro standard," said Tobin Richardson, President and CEO of the Connectivity Standards Alliance. "It's a meaningful step forward, exemplifying our shared vision for a future where interoperability fosters flexibility and enhances the user experience."

"Interoperability has always been central to Kastle's DNA," said Lynn. "We hear it constantly from our customers, they're overwhelmed by managing multiple, incompatible credentials across their properties. Aliro's open standards approach directly supports what they've been asking us for: a simpler, more unified way to manage access. It allows us to deliver the security, flexibility, and ease they need—without the complexity they've come to expect."
