Mia Martin Palm Beach native, has recently enrolled at USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, embarking on her medical education while remaining deeply committed to giving back to her hometown community by supporting children and families through mentorship and outreach.

Mia brings to her medical studies a rich background of hands-on work with babies and children, including time spent at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Cottage Hospital, volunteering at Isla Vista Elementary School, and supporting youth through the Ohtani Basketball League. These experiences helped her realize a profound passion for connecting with, mentoring, and supporting kids, and inspired her to launch a new outreach initiative aimed at improving child health and wellness back home in Palm Beach.

“I’ve always believed that mentoring children and helping families early on can make a big difference,” said Martin. “My time working with babies in the NICU and volunteering at local schools showed me how important support during early childhood is, and I want to use what I learn at Keck to give back to my community.”

Drawing on the values of community engagement emphasized by the Keck School, where student service-learning and outreach are integrated into the curriculum through programs like Keck in the Community, Martin aims to combine her medical training with real-world service.

Her new initiative will focus on providing mentorship, health education, and wellness support for children and families in Palm Beach. Key elements include:

  • Mentorship programs for children and teens, offering guidance, tutoring support, and life-skills workshops.
  • Health and wellness education for parents and caregivers, particularly around early childhood development, preventative care, and healthy habits.
  • Community outreach events to raise awareness about pediatric health, mental wellness, and the importance of early intervention — especially for under-resourced families.

Local educators, parents, and community leaders have already expressed support and optimism for Martin’s efforts. Given her background in both medical care and community-based youth work, many see her as uniquely positioned to bridge healthcare, education, and mentorship to benefit Palm Beach’s next generation.

Mia Martin’s journey from local volunteer to future physician underscores a core belief: that meaningful impact often starts with compassion, commitment, and genuine connection. As she begins her training at USC Keck, she is dedicated to building a foundation where medical knowledge intersects with community care, aiming to give children and families in Palm Beach a brighter, healthier future.
