Second Annual Solstice Century Ride Raises Nearly $105,000 to Assist Naperville-Area Nonprofits

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Fifty-two participants embarked on a 100-mile journey through the scenic Whalon Lake Forest Preserve in Bolingbrook during the longest day of the year for the second annual Solstice Century Ride. Despite hot and humid conditions, riders raised nearly $105,000 to benefit six local nonprofit organizations.

Zac Larson, the event's creator, an avid cyclist and founding partner of IntentGen Financial Partners in Naperville, was proud to see this year's fundraising efforts surpass those of last year. Larson combined his passion for cycling and giving back to his Naperville-area community to launch the inaugural ride in 2024.

"I love seeing people take on challenges," Larson said. "The Solstice Century encourages people to push out of their comfort zone to make a difference for others— and themselves. I'm so excited for all who attempted it, and especially the 28 who completed all 100 miles!"

He explained that 100% of funds raised will be distributed among several community service organizations focused on housing and food insecurity, mental health, and international youth outreach.

SamaraCare Board Chair Bill Smith expressed his gratitude as his nonprofit benefitted from this event.

"Our vision, which states that nothing stands in the way of people getting the care needed to reach their greatest potential, lines up with the spirit of this event as riders pushed their limits," Smith said. "We'll put the hard-earned dollars toward increasing access to affordable, life-changing care."

Following the ride, the participants celebrated with dinner from Billy Bricks Pizza and live music from Johnny's Crush.

Larson is grateful for the support of this year's sponsors: IntentGen Financial PartnersTrek-Naperville, WRIB Manufacturing, and Medical Risk Services.

First-time participant Kate Peseski of Naperville enjoyed the challenge of riding while raising funds.

"Solstice Century was such an amazing and rewarding experience," she said. "Everything we needed to stay energized and hydrated was provided throughout the day and the other riders motivated me to raise more than my goal and to finish the 100 miles!"
