New short wheelbase variant offers up to 12,450 lbs payload, dual ePTOs, and up to 165 miles of range for fleet versatility

FONTANA, Calif., Aug. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ZM Trucks today proudly announced the official launch of its newest model, the ZM8 SWB (Short Wheelbase), featuring a 138-inch wheelbase designed for enhanced maneuverability with a variety of upfit applications.

The ZM8 SWB is engineered to support 12-, 14-, and 16-foot box configurations, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of urban delivery and vocational use applications. Despite its compact size, this model retains the signature features of the ZM8 platform, including standard dual ePTOs (electric power take-offs), which allow seamless integration with liftgates, refrigeration units, and other auxiliary equipment.

The ZM8 SWB is available in both Class 4 and Class 5 configurations:

• Class 4: Payload capacity of 8,950 pounds with an estimated range of 165 miles
• Class 5: Payload capacity of up to 12,450 pounds, with an estimated range of 150 miles

The ZM8 SWB empowers fleet operators with increased flexibility, allowing them to confidently meet the demands of dense urban environments, municipal deliveries, and specialized vocational upfits, all while maintaining zero emissions and low total cost of ownership compared to traditional commercial vehicles.
